A little while back, I shared a few things I felt were helpful when talking about being a WAHM (work at home mom). Today, I'm back with a bit more to say on the subject; more specifcially, I'm here to talk a bit about how I, an ordinary, everyday, run-of-the-mill mom, goes about making WAH work for me.

Finding Time to Work

As we continue to look at stock and finance definitions, we come to all those pesky margin definitions. Gross profit? EBIT? Pretax profit? Eek! What do all of these mean? And what do they mean to you? Well let’s take a look!

Gross Profit Margin

To begin, let’s look at the definition of a gross profit margin. Basically, a margin is a defining factor about the company in which you are interested in investing. These neat little numbers can tell you a lot about the strength of a company.

Normally, I'm pretty much a go-with-the-flow type of gal and usually happy and content. However, I recently found myself in a bad mood; a funk, if you will. I'd like to say I was only in this state for a few hours or less, but, truth be told, I managed to retain the foul and grumpy mood for a few days.

Most of us will experience these trips to Bad Mood Canyon from time to time. It's life. It happens. If you have five minutes to spare, here are some quick-to-implement ideas that might help make your return trip back to Normal a bit smoother, easier and faster.

The Good List

Ah, yes, these are the days of endless diaper changes, bottle feedings and becoming all-too-familiar with the local pizza delivery dude. It doesn't matter if one parent stays home with the rugrats or both work, getting out of the house together at this time could even be more essential than any other period in a marriage. Your bond as husband and wife needs to be strong and united as you work to present a stable and happy front for your children. Keeping connected by date nights is one such way to help you achieve this.

So you want to stay home with the kids? Or you want to go back to school? If you have some big idea for your family’s future that could change your financial dynamics, it may seem more intimidating to discuss the possibility with your spouse than to actually make the changes.

I am trying to eat as healthfully as possible right now. Fruits; vegetables; whole grains; everything that the doctor recommends is going into my mouth in an effort to get all the nutrients I need. This sounds simple, but as anyone who’s ever counted calories, carbs, food groups, or elephants knows, getting to ideal numbers is hard work! I have found a few awesome tips, though, so let’s take a look at how to eat more of the good nutrition that your body needs.

Finding Your Ideal Numbers

We here at MomVesting continue our simple approach to the basics of all things investing. For this go-around, it's the IPO's turn. Not to be confused with the Intellectual Property Office or the International Psycho-Oncology Society, this IPO definitely has a place in the financial and investing world.

According To Webster

I’ve always viewed myself as street smart. I don’t take candy from strangers. I don’t run on pool decks. I don’t dance naked in wind storms...So how did I end up this close (and I mean this close!) to purchasing a Kirby vacuum from a door-to-door salesperson? Well, let me count the ways:

Mistake #1: Taking a Phone Survey

My first mistake was answering the phone. When the fateful call came in, the number was blocked on my caller ID, and I knew it had to be a telemarketer. Ugh.

We here at MomVesting continue our “Eastward, ho!” approach to bringing you the details about our fine nation’s 529 plans. This time, we’ll take a look at what Nevada has to offer with its five (yes, five!) plans. There’s probably a joke about gambling in here, Nevada being the home of Las Vegas and all, so feel free to insert your own witty comment here. On to the plans, shall we?

Years ago I was talking to a co-worker at a bar after work, and she was lamenting the “fact” that she didn’t make enough money. I looked at her in surprise. She always wore the nicest clothes, always went out to lunch, and often made extravagant weekend plans. I assumed she made a lot more money than me, judging only by how much she spent. But this was not the case: she was sinking in debt.
