MomVesting Round-Up: October 22, 2010

Welcome to the first MomVesting Round-Up! We'll be looking at some articles about personal finance and investing that caught our eye this week.

Balance Junkie takes a look at stock allocation, a topic we'll be touching on soon. As you might expect, the look is balanced despite the fact that she has "...not invested in equities or bonds (except for an occasional foray into inverse ETFs) since well before Part I of the financial crisis."

Who doesn't love free stuff? Miranda Marquit at Coupon Shoebox shares tips for getting a bunch of free samples. Miranda shares 13 sites that will help you find free samples, so why do your own research?

Kris at Everyday Thoughts and Tips shares why she's not a member at Costco or Sams. If a mother of 3 like her can't get her money's worth there, you have to wonder. That being said I think she's underestimating the flexibility of a giant M&M bag. I use them as beanbag chairs.

A guest post on Frugal Dad looks at a subject we're all concerned about: How to Raise Money Smart Kids. Among his recommendations is staying calm. I'll have to try that some day.

Finally the Canadian Finance Blog is doing a book giveaway and today (Sunday) is the last day to enter. Head over for the free books, stay for the ice hockey and sketch comedy.

Also be sure to check out all the posts from MomVesting this week:

And be sure to check back with us next week for our continuing look at finance and investing from a woman's point of view.
