Friday Round-Up

Friday Round-Up

On this Friday Round-Up, I am tired. I just finished a 10 mile run, which is a first for me! I am excited, sore, proud and hurting, but my mixed emotions and aching body leave me exactly where I want to be: on my way to running a ½ marathon before I get pregnant. Heck, while I’m at it I might throw in finishing a full marathon before I’m waddling then swaddling.

Of course, my marathon goals can be put on hold at any time should I actually become prego. Right now, motherhood is a much bigger goal for me than running. But, you know, while I wait for the stork, I might as well cross two running goals off my bucket list. Plus I heard that delivery is just like running a marathon, so I kind of want to be prepared for that – let me know what it’s like, moms!

Even with all the time I’ve spent pounding the pavement, I have been surfing the net for the best in finance and mom blogs this week. So, on that note, let’s look at what I dug up in the land of internet fun!

Blogaversaries

Mysti celebrates her 500th post with $12K less debt. Wish her a happy blogaversary!

Another blogaversary this week: Niki at DebtFreeBy30 celebrates one year by giving away two awesome personal finance books.

It seems that blogaversaries are the thing to do in August: stop by to wish Lindy at Minting Nickels a happy blogaversary as well!

Finance

Join Sandy as she flirts her way to free food, and weigh in on if this is unethical…or just a bonus for being cute.

Paula at AffordAnything questions what a million dollar goal really means.

Crystal at BudgetingInTheFunStuff shares the story about how she sold the hair off her head for more than $100.

When is debt good? When is it bad? Derek at LifeAndMyFinances takes a look.

Ashley at MoneyTalks shares her experiences with big tippers and little tippers in the game of coffee service. You may be surprised who tips the most.

Parenting and Family

Potty training nightmares? Check in with PerfectingParenthood to find out about the tried and true two-week potty training.

FemmeFrugality shares a delish Meatless Mondays recipe…on a Tuesday! Looks like I might have to have a Meatless Friday.

Sarah at SoSaysSarah stumbles on a free table and brings it back to life.

Kristen at MyKidsEatSquid has enjoyed family pampering while sick, including a spicy hot meal created by her husband to cure her cold and some cheesecake from her daughter. Who said sick days are all that bad?

Photo note: That's obviously not me, unless I turned into a man, but I found the corn fitting. You know, since I'm from Iowa.

Thanks for the mention!! Good luck on your half marathon. I can't say if labor is like a marathon... I've never run one.

Thanks for the link and congrats on a 10-mile run!! That's incredible ... I've never done that and, to be perfectly honest, I never will. Zero desire, plus it terribly hurts my knees. I totally admire people who run half-marathons! It amazes me that people can do that! Wahoo! I'll be running vicariously through you.
