Friday Round-Up: This Week's Best in Finance
Today is cold and windy, and as I stare out my window into the dreary November chill, I know that winter is not far off. Sigh. I suppose it comes every year, so I shouldn’t be surprised that it’s on its way again. Yet I am.
I’m surprised at how quickly the year went. It flew by, seemingly faster than before, and I’m left dreading the next six months of cold, wind, snow and sleet (I guess I’m not cut out to be a mailman, huh?).
In any case, I must adjust my budget for the heating bill again, and every year at this time I think it may be smarter to get on the budget billing, where the average yearly heating cost is divided over 12 months rather than hitting me all at once. But I resist because I love the freedom to spend more in the summer months, when the weather is more favorable to having fun.
So I’m left once again debating which is the best option for me: budget billing or high winter heating bills. What do you think? How do you handle heating bills?
In other news, the internet was abuzz with all sorts of finance ideas and advice. Feel free to check out the following:
- RB40 has an interesting take on Occupy Wall Street: he thinks that Economic Inequality is Bad for Your Health. Check out the charts and video; very intriguing info.
- Are you swimming in stuff? Get Rich Slowly just realized that he is, too, and he decided to pare back and Decide What to Buy.
- There’s no doubt that a certain amount of money can make life easier, but PT Money poses the question, “Does money make you happy?" Weigh in with your own thoughts.
- Teaching finance principals to kids doesn’t have to be difficult. Follow Mighty Bargain Hunter as he explains finances and a car loan to his daughter.

We just pay the bill as it comes...then a month or two out of the year somehow we owe nothing because we had been overcharged....I should probably figure that out, but when a bill says $0 you're not apt to do much detective work.
Um, has it snowed where you are yet? We got some a couple days before Halloween. It made me angry.

No snow here. We've had some 20s and 30s overnight, but days are still around 50. Bummer about your snow :(
