Friday Round-Up: The Best In Finance Blogs
While I was laid up over the weekend with a torturous toothache, I watched a lot of movies. Some were cute, others thrilling, but only one of the four was really memorable: “Soul Surfer”. This flick was recommended by a friend, and I put off renting it for a while because it didn’t really appeal to me. Big mistake on my part; “Soul Surfer” was beautiful and inspiring at the same time.
If you’re not familiar with the movie, it’s about 14-year old surfer Bethany Hamilton who lost her arm in a shark attack. She struggled with daily life and almost gave up on her dreams of becoming a professional surfer. A lot of soul searching led her to take up surfing again, going on later in life to become a professional surfer.
I was resistant to the movie mostly because I could envision the synopsis above becoming a cheesy, overdone drama. In fact, if done incorrectly, it could have been overplayed, but it was done beautifully (except for one horribly completed CGI moment at the end).
The great thing about the movie, though, was that her perseverance could be applied to anything going on in anyone’s life, including finances. Working hard to pay off those debts and build savings really is possible.
Surfing the net took on a whole new meaning this week as I “soul surfed” my way to the best of the best:

Don't you love an inspirational movie? Or anything inspirational. I love that feeling that I can do it too.
